Joan is a thin client device connecting via Wi-Fi, meaning that all of its operations take place online. This requires a stable connection with a server.
Please note that the quality of your wireless network will critically influence all aspects of Joan's performance.
If your Wi-Fi connection is not stable, this will affect Joan’s battery life, responsiveness, system stability and more.
Please also note that mobile hotspots are not recommended for using Joan.
Before installing Joan, we suggest that you check if the location you have chosen for the device:
- has good coverage (you can check this by running an app such as the Wifi Analyzer on your mobile phone at the chosen location);
- has a good quality access point (it’s probably time to replace that aging and unreliable solution anyway);
- does not have too many clients installed (meaning that the Wi-Fi is not too crowded).
If the answer to all of the points above is "yes," then your Joan should function perfectly without any glitches.
Joan uses extremely low power modules, which can be more susceptible to environmental factors, slightly limiting Joan's compatibility with certain makes and models of Wi-Fi access points. In specific cases, we can help our customers swap their device Wi-Fi firmware for one that is more suited to their environment.
