Connecting your Google Calendar account to Joan Home is very easy. In this article we will cover all the possibilities to connect your Google calendar to Joan Home.
There are three ways you can connect your Google Calendar account to Joan Home:
- Automatic via Google Single Sign On (SSO)
- Manual connection via Google Calendar
- Manual integration via Google Calendar iCal (.ics) links
Connecting Joan Home with the Google Sign In
Google Sign In / Single Sign On (SSO) is the easiest way to connect Joan with your calendar. If you've created your portal account using the Google SSO, Joan home automatically connects to your Google calendar.
If you choose the Google SSO option during the Sign in, then all you have to do is select the “Pair device” option and pair your device.
When your device is paired you will be able to scan all available calendars in your personal Google calendar. You can select one of these options or manually add the email address as a room resource with the option “Connect calendar manually”.
Manually connecting Joan Home to Google calendar
After creating your Joan Portal login (when not using the SSO option) you will be presented with the calendar selection screen.
Select the Google calendar from the menu and click on the button “Next”. You will be guided and requested to sign into your Google account and allow Joan Home to connect to your Calendar.
The last step we have is to connect your Joan home device to your account. All you have to do is select the “Pair device” option and pair your device.
When your device is paired you will be able to scan all available calendars in your personal Google calendar. You can select one of these options or manually add the email address as a room resource with the option “Connect calendar manually”.
Connecting Joan Home with Google iCal option
Google Calendars also provide iCal links that can be used to connect your device with your Google calendar without providing any Google credentials. This is a bit more technical than going with the Google Sign In, but can be used in cases where you want to connect calendars that you do not have access to from your own account (but you have a public iCal link).
In order to insert the iCalendar URL address and connect your device, please open the “Pair device” section and manually insert the calendar.
Please follow the instructions below to find your iCalendar URL address:
- Log in to your Google account
- Go to Google Calendar (opens new window)
- In the left column, click My calendars to expand it, hover over the calendar that you want to add to Outlook as an Internet Calendar Subscription. Select the three dots to the right of the calendar name, then select Settings.
- Scroll down to the Integrate section
- Select the URL labelled Secret address in iCal format and copy it
- This is the link to your Google calendar for Joan Home iCalendar integration
The last step we have is to connect your Joan home device to your account. All you have to do is select the “Pair device” option and pair your device.
No matter which option you choose, once connected, the Joan Home device will display your calendar in a matter of seconds.
Should you ever wish to change which calendar you want to change, please click on “Connect calendar” option and change your preferred calendar and that’s it!
We wish you productive days and happy meetings!
