EcoSync: An Efficient Solution for Joan 6 RE, Joan 6 Pro and Joan 13 Pro Devices

EcoSync is an operational mode for the Joan devices, that allows them to connect to the server periodically, optimizing bandwidth usage and significantly reducing battery drain

How It Works:

With EcoSync, devices are not constantly connected to the server. Instead, they sync data at specific intervals, which may result in slight delays in calendar updates or other data synchronization. However, the major advantage is reduced battery consumption and lower data usage, as the device connects only when necessary. EcoSync itself shouldn't significantly impact the performance of Joan devices

Enabling EcoSync:

EcoSync can be enabled on a per-device, per-building or per-company basis. To activate it, please reach out to the support team via email, to have this enabled for you. Please include the email of the MyJoan admin account and how you wish to enable it.

Benefits of using EcoSync

EcoSync offers several advantages that can greatly improve the performance, efficiency, and longevity of your Joan devices. Here are the key benefits of using EcoSync:

  1. Reduced Battery Consumption:

    • One of the primary benefits of EcoSync is significantly lower battery usage. By connecting to the server only at specific intervals, devices consume less power compared to being constantly connected, extending battery life between charges.
  2. Optimized Bandwidth Usage:

    • EcoSync mode helps reduce unnecessary data traffic by syncing only when necessary. This can be especially beneficial in environments where bandwidth is limited or costly, ensuring that the device operates more efficiently without consuming excessive network resources.
  3. Improved Device Longevity:

    • With less frequent data transmission and lower energy consumption, devices with EcoSync are likely to have a longer operational life. The reduced load on both the network and battery helps to extend the overall lifespan of the device.
    • Devices do not need to be always connected to the server. This makes EcoSync a more flexible solution, especially in environments where a constant connection might be unreliable or unnecessary, such as remote locations or buildings with intermittent network coverage.
  4. Enhanced Stability in Low-Connectivity Environments:

    • EcoSync is ideal for environments with unstable or low-quality network connections, as the devices don't need a constant connection. They will sync data on intervals or when the device is being interacted with, improving reliability and performance in challenging environments.

Potential Downsides of Using EcoSync

While EcoSync provides several benefits, such as reduced battery consumption and optimized bandwidth usage, there are some potential downsides that customers should be aware of, when using this feature:

  1. Data Synchronization Delays:

    • One of the primary benefits of EcoSync is significantly lower battery usage. By connecting to the server only at specific intervals, devices consume less power compared to being constantly connected, extending battery life between charges.
  2. Limited Online Availability

    • While EcoSync is enabled, the device is not always connected to the server.
This means that, during off-sync periods, there might be a slow delay for certain requests, such as fetching the latest content, syncing real-time changes immediately or booking the room
