How to upgrade the firmware of your Joan device(s)

Joan devices require up-to-date firmware in order to operate. Luckily, they update automatically, no matter which server you opted for - in the cloud or an on-premises one.

However, this automatic update option can be disabled in the Visionect Software Suite (VSS) dashboard and the firmware of the device can be manually managed.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to the admin dashboard of your server
     http://IP_OF_VM:8081
  2. Log in with your credentials. By default, the following credentials are set
    • Username: admin
    • Password: admin123
  3. Open the “Devices” page from the left-hand side menu
  4. A list of all of your devices will appear. Select the one you wish to update to the latest firmware
  5. Once the preview of the device has opened, click “Advanced settings” below the device preview section
  6. In the “Status & Settings” tab of the device’s settings, first, disable the "Automatic update to latest firmware" checkbox
  7. Locate “Firmware Revision” in the first segment of this tab
  8. Tick the “Change” box on the far right to enable the option of changing the device’s firmware
  9. Select the desired version of the firmware from the drop-down menu
  10. Click the “Save” button in the bottom-right corner of your screen to save the new settings

And that’s it! Your device will restart briefly after and update it with the latest firmware. This might take a few minutes, so please be patient.
