What Is Joan Workplace Digital Signage

Joan Workplace Digital Signage is a hybrid Content Management System (CMS) for managing signage content on Joan e-paper and LCD displays.

Technical requirements

  • Stable internet connectivity

  • Enabled access to the CMS

    • To gain access please enable digital signage solution in the Joan portal, and wait for the email confirmation to receive your personal tenant URL and login credentials

  • Any supported display device, also known as a Player, to display content.

Supported displays

  • Joan e-paper displays: Supported natively.
  • Digital signage and other LCD displays: Supported via software apps or external players.

How to connect the CMS to your display

  • Sign in to the CMS using your tenant URL and login credentials.
  • On your first visit you will need to complete your user profile.

The pairing process varies depending on your display type

Note: Displays are referred to as Players within the CMS.

  • Joan e-paper displays: Configure the network via Joan configurator app, and make sure to enter cms-1.dk.visionect.com for server. Then wait for the PIN, and register it in the CMS.
  • LG and Samsung digital signage displays: Please follow instructions for LG and Samsung.
  • Any other display: Please follow the instructions to install our player OS on a compatible device.

Note: After pairing a Joan device, it is mandatory to assign it to a player group. This will cause the playlist to assign the e-paper specific features to any playlist linked to this group.

Working with content

First, you organize your content into playlists and then schedule those playlists to players. Playlists consist of pages that you can create with the built-in graphics editor, start from templates, upload your own files, or combine all of these options. Pages have defined durations. When a playlist is done it needs to be published to be available for scheduling.

Please refer to this article for supported media formats. All media is saved in a media library with virtually unlimited storage.

A playlist can be scheduled to a player with many flexible timing, recurrence and other rules. Zone layouts can be used to combine multiple playlists on one screen if needed (LCD only). Once a playlist is scheduled it will sync to its players and start playing.

Everything in one platform

Joan WDS is a flexible, hybrid CMS that supports both Joan e-paper displays and most LCD screens. While it automatically handles the added complexity in the background, it also provides dedicated controls when needed. For example, a playlist will switch to e-paper mode as soon as it’s assigned to a player group with Joan displays, but you can also enable this manually at any time in the playlist settings.

Additionally, Joan WDS includes premium CMS capabilities such as role-based security, unlimited users, players, and media storage, comprehensive auditing and proof-of-play reporting, and extensive integration options.
