Joan Workplace Digital Signage Overview

Joan Workplace Digital Signage is a Content Management System (CMS) for managing signage content on Joan e-paper and compatible LCD displays.

Technical requirements

  • Stable internet connectivity

  • Access to the CMS

    • To gain access to the CMS please request a demo from Joan’s team to receive your personal CMS URL and login credentials

  • Any supported display device (also known as a Player)

Supported Displays

  • Joan e-paper displays are natively supported

  • WebOS-based LG digital signage displays (supported via player app)

  • Tizen-based Samsung digital signage displays (supported via player app)
  • Any other LCD with a PC-based player attached (supported via Linux-based player image)

How to connect the CMS to your display

  • Log in with the provided credentials.
  • Update your user profile (only during your first login).
Pairing of your display differs depending on the type of display (Note: in the CMS any display is called a Player).
  • Joan e-paper displays: Configure the network via Joan configurator app, wait for the PIN, and register it in the CMS.
  • LG/Samsung digital signage displays: Configure the network, then install the Centoplayer app and share the PIN with Joan Support.
  • Any other display: Please contact Joan support for a Linux-based OS image and instructions.

Note: After pairing any Joan device, it is mandatory to assign it to a player group. This will cause the playlist to assign the e-paper specific features to any playlist linked to this group.

How to display content

Create a playlist by navigating to Content → Playlists and selecting Create in the top menu. Name it, set default settings, make sure to assign the right player group, set user permissions, and content apps.

To add content browse the Library and drag anything to playlist timeline, or drag any supported media from your desktop to playlist timeline. For more advanced layouts select Create in the playlist timeline, and a PowerPoint-like design tool will open.
When you are done make sure to publish the playlist.

Now go to Content → Scheduling and a timetable will open. First, in the left panel select a player. Then drag any playlist from the right panel to the timetable view. In the popup set date, time, and recurrence, then select Confirm.

With this the content will begin to sync in the background, and after a few minutes it should show up on your display.
