Joan CMS supports most LCD displays. Some require a software player (an app), while others require a hardware player attached.
Overview
Joan CMS supports various LCD displays in several different ways:
- LG digital signage displays are natively supported through a software player (app) that is installed to their operating system webOS.
- Samsung digital signage displays are natively supported through a software player (app) that is installed to their operating system Tizen.
LG and Samsung DS displays are a reliable and cost effective choice for most workplace digital signage requirements.
- Displays that have an Intel SoC built-in, for example some models from ProDVX, are natively supported through a software player (OS image) that is based on Linux.
These displays offer greater flexibility in display sizes and form factors for your workplace digital signage requirements while still remaining cost effective.

Displays with a Smart Display Module (SDM) slot can have an SDM Intel module installed with our Linux-based software player (OS image). Sharp NEC has displays with SDM slots, and Giada is an example SDM module manufacturer.
The main advantage of these displays is flexibility in the choice of the specs for the SDM module, and the fact that once the module is installed it becomes an integral part of the display without any external cabling. Displays in this category tend to be more of a premium grade and include advanced security options.

All other LCD displays are supported through external media players in the Mini-PC form factor with our Linux-based software player installed (OS image). There are many brands of Mini-PCs, for example Giada and Maxtang have good options that are designed to run 24/7, with generous warranty. The required minimum specs are: Intel platform, 2GB RAM, 64GB SSD, wired or wireless networking, USB, one or more HDMI outputs.
This option supports virtually any display and offers the greatest flexibility, but adds to overall setup complexity. It should only be used if none of the above solutions can be implemented. As it comes with a few more pieces to manage a bit of extra planning is advised.
